How we helped PUMA relaunch a Cult Classic - PUMA x THUNDERCATS

PUMA approached us to direct and execute a 3D launch campaign for a new release of shoes based off the classic TV show Thundercats. By partnering with WTTR Studios, they were able to leverage the endless possibilities of 3D to transport their shoes and fans back into some of the most iconic locations from the show.

Drawing inspiration from the fan favorites Lion-O, Cheetara, and the Cat's Lair - we created pixel perfect 3D digital doubles of the shoes, five full CG environments, multiple campaign videos, and dozens of ultra resolutions print renders.

HERO STILLS

Serving as the highlight of the campaign we created 18 high resolution vertical renders (5760x3840px) renders and 18 high resolution horizontal renders (3840x5760px) of the shoes in their 3D Thundercat's environments. To be used across websites, advertising, and in store prints these stills were the foundation for the collaboration between Puma and Thundercats.

HERO VIDEOS

In addition to the Hero Stills we directed and created a set of hero videos for each set of shoes to be used across various social media accounts belonging to Puma, Footlocker, Kids Footlocker, WB Style, Champs Sports.

All Shoes

Drawing inspiration from the "Sword of Omens" room in Episode 1 of Thundercats, we recreated this environment in 3D show off all three of the Puma x Thundercat shoes.

Men's Shoes

Taking place on the main command deck from Episode 1, this hero video captures the iconic location from Thundercats and served as the reveal for the Cat's Lair and Lion-O Shoes.

Cheetara

Taking place on Third Earth, this hero video showcases one of Cheetara's most iconic powers - her super speed. Drawing similarities to the Thundercats intro, the Cheetara shoe zooms through the desert, flips and lands next to her Power Staff.

Cat's Lair

This video shows off the Cat's Lair shoe. Taking place right under the Tundercats base of operations on Third Earth, this base is possibly the most recognizable location of all.

Lion-O

Drawing inspiration from the suspension capsule that diminished the effects of aging on young Lion-O as he traveled to Third Earth. This video shows the shoe being formed inside the capsule and emerging in a similar fashion.
